In 2020, KNCAP, Latin NCAP, ARCAP templates were developed, further strengthening our position in crash test analysis and offering a wider range of services and reports to our clients. We continuously strive to add features to also make them easier and more flexible to use, such as editing all the limits at the beginning of the report or the possibility of reading channels with a multiple range of expected names and not all only the ISO code. More regulation templates will be added to the list in 2021.

2020 was a challenging year as for many other companies, with lower revenue than expected due to lower investments from key sectors such as automotive and aeronautics. ORME is however withstanding the economic downturn by relying on an international presence and a wide range of customers, Asia in particular is recovering at a faster pace and other sectors such as defense and space have been less impacted.

We have fully switched to working from home temporarily in order to protect our employees and our clients.

Nevertheless, theses times offer the opportunity to strengthen our R&D, and to further develop our products. New exciting modules have been added to TrackImage, in particular 3D Virtual Objects. TrackImage now allows to measure the 3D displacement of a point which disappears on the video or which is hard to track by using three other visible points on the same rigid body. A module for Virtual volumes was also added, allowing fitting a 3D model to the tracked object, compute its translations and orientations and extract boundary points.

Additional crash test regulation templates for TrackReport were developed (KNCAP, Latin NCAP, ARCAP) on top of the existing list and it will further grow in 2021.

On the collaborative R&D projects side, we have been involved a lot in new Machine Learning techniques for image processing, especially for the R2T2 project (autonomous robot for pruning vines), which enters its exciting prototyping phase, and for the HELION project (Helicopter for autonomous cleaning of wind turbine blades). We also had the chance to start a new exciting collaborative R&D project, called PHOTOMATIQ, which aims at building a robotic machine for automatic photonic product assembly. Our ambition is to add innovative image processing algorithms for the pose estimation of objects with high accuracy, using 3D model-based techniques.

2020 also saw exciting projects carried out for our clients in the field of vision, on subjects of autonomous driving, safety applications, involving machine learning techniques for the analysis of videos or 3D sensors. Listening to our clients and their evolving needs is of great importance in these times and that’s what we have been focusing on in 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021.

    Release of TrackImage 3.5

A new 3D Virtual Objects module is available in TrackImage! In addition to the 3D motion tracking module, it measures the 3D-trajectory of a point that disappears during movement or is difficult to track. It also provides the trajectory and orientation of a 3D-rigid body and the 3D-trajectories for the body’s boundary points. Combining precision, robustness and ease of use, this module enables you to optimize the information from your 3D tests. Do not hesitate to contact us for any...

Another collaborative R&D project, initiated in 2017 and supported by the Occitanie Region, was completed during the year: FLIP2, the second version of the FLIP project (Flight Plans), with real technical successes. Two other exciting projects are still in progress, LUTECE (monitoring urban transport cables), and R2T2 (autonomous robot for pruning vines). To be continued too!

As for our products, TrackImage and TrackReport, developments are going on. New algorithms, new functionalities, in particular for 3D calibration, 3D tracking and the Virtual Objects module.

We were pleased to see the deployment of our Fall Sensor in nursing homes, with now more than 300 beds installed. Here too, 2019 was a busy year for the development of new functionalities on user interfaces, on connections to different nurse call systems!

On the side of our customers, some exciting applications as well: new developments with Airbus, in acoustics, in connection with our TrackReport tool, and studies of new algorithms in image processing, in the fields of motorsport in collaboration with the FIA, or in the field of video processing for autonomous vehicle…

Finally, internationally, we are proud to have new prestigious clients in Japan, India, the US, China, Europe ... thanks to our distributors. New business partners joined us this year to strengthen our presence in Asia: EON in China, Marubun in Japan, JAT in Korea…
